This client came to me looking to create a logo for their application called “Athena”. They requested that it included the owl of Athena, a symbol associated with the Greek Goddess.

I started this process by looking into historical references to the owl of Athena, and once I had some interesting references pulled together, I began creating iterations of the logo based on these.

Once I had the base of the owl logo, I then began to think branding - what font and what colours would convey the message. The client specified that they picked the name Athena as she is the Greek Goddess of wisdom. I chose the font “Ofelia Text” as the points in the a’s and n’s gave the logo a Greek feel without falling into cliched Greek font territory. The yellow/gold then came natually, giving a royal and important tone - fitting of a goddess.

I worked together with the client to choose the owl design that worked best for them - and they were delighted with the final result.
